Coming In 2027

The Silent Film Series returns next year with another season of classic films and live accompaniment on the Venango Museum’s 1928 Wurlitzer Theatre Organ. More films will be announced soon.

The Kid Brother (1927)

Harold Lloyd stars in one of his best-loved comedies, accompanied live on the Wurlitzer Theatre organ by Ian Fraser.

The Mark of Zorro (1920)

Douglas Fairbanks stars as the legendary masked hero in a silent adventure, accompanied live on the Wurlitzer by Clark Wilson.

The Cat And The Canary (1927)

A spooky silent horror-comedy presented with live musical accompaniment by Eric Cook and instrumentalists.

Silent films were never silent.

Live music gives these films their pulse—from a quiet moment to a chase, a comic mishap, or a terrifying encounter. Each screening pairs the action on screen with music performed in the room.

Our 1928 Wurlitzer theatre organ originally served Oil City’s Latonia Theatre. Today, it connects museum audiences with the sound and excitement of the silent-film experience.

Know Before You Go

Reserve your tickets
Seating is limited, and advance purchase is strongly recommended. Ticket availability is shown on each film’s booking page.

Seating

Seating is first come, first served, with no assigned seats. Folding chairs are provided on the main gallery floor.

When to arrive

Doors open 30 minutes before each screening.

Museum member discount
Museum members receive discounted tickets. Membership may be verified at check-in.

Location & parking
Screenings take place at Venango Museum, 270 Seneca Street, Oil City, Pennsylvania. Free parking is available in the museum lot behind the building. Metered street parking is also available in front.

Accessibility
A ramp provides access to the rear entrance from the museum parking lot. Films are shown in the main gallery on the first floor, and accessible stalls are available in the restrooms.
