Set during the American Civil War and based on a true story, the film follows a determined locomotive engineer who must chase his stolen train and the woman he loves across enemy lines. With its exciting stunts, clever physical comedy, and impressive train scenes, The General is often called Keaton’s masterpiece and one of the best films of the silent era.
See this classic film the way audiences did in the past, with live music on the museum’s historic 1928 Wurlitzer theater organ, performed by renowned organist Walt Strony. Come enjoy an evening of silent film, live music, and timeless comedy.
